Crustaceans don't require a specific amount of protein but require a balanced supplementation of essential amino acids. The aim of this study was to evaluate the composition and profile of amino acids in feed and fish meal used in shrimp farming. The samples used for the experiment were commercial feed with protein levels of 35 and 40% and fish meal and soya meal used in feed formulations. The chemical composition of the feed samples and their respective fish meal and soya meal were determined according to the AOAC methods and analyzes for obtaining amino acid profile was performed using an elution gradient in HPLC system. The percentages obtained of moisture, ash, protein, fat and fiber related the two samples of fish meal (FPA and FPB) were 4.4, 14.3, 61.8, 12.8, 0.1% and 5 , 9, 17.1, 53.9, 6.9; 0.30%, respectively. The percentages obtained of moisture, ash, protein, fat and fiber related the two samples of soy flour (FSA and FSB) were 5.5, 13.2, 46.7, 4.0, and 5.2% 5.8, 11.9, 49.0, 5.8; 4.5%, respectively. Comparing the results of amino acid profile of the feed used in this study with those determined by chemical score, it can be noted that diets A and B were not satisfactory in the content of essential amino acids, except lysine, which showed chemical score (EQ) higher than the standard. The fish meal and soya meal used in the formulation of commercial feed (RA) had amino acid profile superior to those found in meals used for obtaining commercial feed (RB).

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of dietary nutrient levels on performance, carcass yield, commercial cuts, digestibility and economical viability of broilers from 1 to 42 days of age. During the experiment, 180 COBB 500™ chicks were housed in metal batteries and subjected to a completely randomized design in a 2x3 factorial arrangement, of two sexes and three diets (male, female and mixed), totaling 6 treatments and 6 repetitions of 5 birds each. Data were subjected to statistical analysis and the means were compared using the Tukey test, at 5% probability. The results indicate the effect of sex on performance and commercial cuts, except for breast and thigh fillets, in which males and females showed similar results when given the mixed diet. The influence of the nutritional levels on performance, digestibility and commercial cuts was observed, in which the female diet showed the highest results for feed intake, body weight and weight gain, in addition to greater retention of protein and crude energy. For drumstick and abdominal fat yield, the highest values were obtained using the mixed diet and the female diet, and the lowest values were obtained using the male diet. Regarding economic viability, the female diet showed the highest return per unit of Real (R$) spent on feed. Therefore, these data prove that the female diet had a positive effect when provided to both sexes, and it may be a promising alternative for its application at the production level.

In recent years several researchers have conducted studies comparing total lipids extraction methods, to find the most efficient method. The objective of this work was to study four different total lipids extraction methods in soybean crumbs and chicken thigh hillbilly with solvents of different degrees of toxicity and polarity (n-hexane, n-hexane-isopropanol, chloroform, methanol and ethanol). The study showed that the Soxhlet method, using ethanol as solvent was more efficient in the total lipids extraction present in soybean crumbs (5.38%), but not significantly different (p ≤ 0.05) for organic chicken thigh (3.35%), among the methods. The Bligh & Dyer cold method was the most efficient for the soybean crumbs. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.14685/rebrapa.v1i2.19
