Normal erythrocyte calpain I activity on membrane proteins under near-physiological conditions in patients with essential hypertension

Abstract: CONTEXT: It has been reported that the equilibrium between the erythrocyte protease calpain I and its physiological inhibitor calpastatin is disrupted in patients with essential hypertension.
