RESUMO Introdução: A disfunção vestibular acomete sujeitos de qualquer faixa etária, de forma indistinta, com sintomas como desequilíbrio, sensação rotatória e quedas, que afetam a rotina de vida, os relacionamentos familiares, sociais e profissionais. Sendo a Reabilitação Vestibular (RV) um recurso terapêutico aplicado em pacientes com distúrbios do equilíbrio, percebe-se, nos últimos anos, um direcionamento de esforços de pesquisadores voltado para o aprofundamento de questões referentes a tal procedimento. Objetivo: Realizar uma análise dos artigos científicos acerca da RV publicados entre 2003 e 2012. Material e Métodos: Foi realizada a busca de artigos nas bases de artigos Scielo, Medline e Lilacs, segundo a palavra-chave "reabilitação vestibular". Foram identificados 2443 trabalhos, dos quais, 68 se enquadraram nos critérios de inclusão. Resultados: Os artigos analisados apresentaram como principais características: foi publicado em 2010 (17,65%), por um profissional médico (52,94%), com pacientes que não possuem patologia específica (45,59%), sem faixa etária definida (58,82%) e sem uso de questionário de handicap de tontura (51,47%). Além disso, o protocolo de RV mais utilizado foi o de Cawthorne e Cooksey (69,56%). Entre os trabalhos produzidos no Brasil, destacam-se os desenvolvidos na Região Sudeste (63,89%) e entre os produzidos no exterior, destacam-se os desenvolvidos nos Estados Unidos (46,88%). Conclusões: Foi possível vislumbrar que a reabilitação vestibular é apresentada sistematicamente como um procedimento eficaz para a melhora das atividades da vida diária e redução do risco de queda. O procedimento é considerado um tratamento simples e adequado para a tontura, sintoma extremamente comum na população. DESCRITORES Tontura. Doenças Vestibulares.
