Mix design of high-performance concrete

Abstract: A mix design procedure for high-performance concrete mixes has been presented in this paper. Since rheological parameters and compressive strength are fundamental properties of concrete in two different stages of production, the correlation between rheological parameters and compressive strength has been used instead of using water-cement ratio versus compressive strength relationship. Water-cement ratio and aggregate volume to paste volume ratio has also been determined from rheological behavior and used in t… Show more

“…The performance of the proposed system was evaluated by three statistical measures namely root mean square error (RMSE), coefficient of determination (R2) and mean absolute error (MAE) to verify and validate the accuracy of the proposed method (9) (10) Here, Ai = Actual value, M=mean of actual value; Pi = Predicted value; n = nu mber of data (1, 2, 3 …). Table 4 shows RSM E, R2, and MAE results of the proposed system using wSVM with polynomial and RBF kernel functions compared against the other AI systems (SVM and BPN)…”

“…There are popular methods of mix proportion of HPC such method proposed by [7,8,9] among other methods [10]. However, to obtain required mix proportions of HPC most commonly based on trial mixes as stated in relevant standards, experience, and ru les of thumb approach [11,12].…”

“… Modified American Concrete Institute method gives usage of High dosage of Superplasticizer to get high slump which reduces the strength therefore proper content of SP should be recommended. A mix design procedure for High Performance Concrete had been suggested by aminul Islam Laskar [45] which took rheological parameters into account to determine compressive strength, water cement ratio and aggregate volume to paste volume ratio. Instead of using water cement ratio and compressive strength relationship, relationship between compressive strength, paste volume-aggregate volume ratio; physical properties of aggregate and rheological parameters were used in mix design.…”
