Abstract:The current study aimed to evaluate the effect of indole butyric acid (IBA) and boric acid to induce rooting on atemoya "Thompson" cuttings. A randomized block design with 10 treatments and four blocks was laid out. The treatments consisted in the use of different levels of IBA (i.e., 0, 500, 1,000, 2,000 and 4,000 mg/L) with or without boric acid at 150 mg/L. The cuttings were placed to root in expanded polystyrene (EPS) trays with 72 cells and kept in a greenhouse under misting. At 120 d after planting, leaf dry and fresh masses (g), root dry and fresh masses (g), percentage of rooting, live cuttings (LC), live cuttings with callus (LCC), number of roots per cuttings and number of emitted leaves (NEL) were evaluated. Data were submitted to analysis of variance and comparison of means by Tukey test at 5% probability. Results indicated no statistically significant differences in both application methods (separate or associated with boric acid) for all evaluated variables, except for LC, in which boric acid provided higher survival rates. It could be concluded that the propagation method using either separate IBA application or associated with boric acid is unsuitable to induce rooting on atemoya "Thompson" cuttings.

RESUMOA cultura do eucalipto apresenta grande importância para o setor florestal e para a economia brasileira. Na região Sul, uma das principais espécies recomendadas para o plantio é o Eucalyptus dunnii. A capacidade de resistir a geadas severas associadas à qualidade da madeira torna o plantio da espécie desejável, mas a baixa produção de sementes e o baixo percentual de enraizamento das miniestacas dificultam a propagação vegetativa da espécie. Desta forma, objetivou-se estimar o efeito da aplicação da auxina sintética (IBA) na sobrevivência e enraizamento de miniestacas de E. dunnii. As miniestacas foram coletadas de minicepas de origem seminal e confeccionadas com dimensões entre 4 a 6 cm, deixando-se dois pares de folhas. Para o enraizamento, a porção basal da miniestaca foi imersa em cinco concentrações de IBA (0, 1000, 2000, 3000 e 4000 mg L -1 ) durante 10 segundos. O delineamento utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado com quatro repetições contendo 10 miniestacas por repetição. Avaliou-se a sobrevivência, o enraizamento, o comprimento total do sistema radicular e altura das miniestacas. Com base nos resultados, conclui-se que nas condições em que o estudo foi realizado a aplicação do IBA não teve efeito sobre a sobrevivência e enraizamento das miniestacas de E. dunnii, portanto, o ácido indolbutírico não deve ser usado como fator de estímulo ao enraizamento e sobrevivência de miniestacas desta espécie. Stem cuttings and substrates in Dovyalis asexual propagation

The objective of this study was to evaluate the asexual propagation of Dovyalis, through the use of substrates and cuttings. Three experiments were conducted in Marechal Cândido Rondon, Paraná State, Brazil, and the first experiment consisted of three removal positions of the cuttings (apical, middle and basal) x 4 Indole butyric acid (IBA) concentrations (0 mg L-1, 1000 mg L-1, 2000 mg L-1 and 3000 mg L-1); the second experiment evaluated the number of leaves in the cuttings (2, 4 and 6) x 3 cutting sizes (10, 15 and 20 cm); and the third experiment evaluated four substrates for rooting. The experiment was carried out in a randomized blocks design, with the first in a 3x4 and the second in a 3x3 factorial, respectively, containing 4 repetitions of 15 cuttings. The third experiment consisted of 5 repetitions of 15 cuttings. After the IBA treatment, the cuttings were taken to rooting in sandy beds during 70 days. The agronomical variables were evaluated. Basal and middle cuttings resulted in root systems with better development. The use of 1666 mg L-1 of IBA favors the Dovyalis cuttings rooting. Cuttings with 15 and 20 cm with four leaves favors the Dovyalis vegetative propagation. Dovyalis cuttings develop better on substrates containing latosol and vermiculite.
