Abstract: Produção de fitomassa e teor de óleo essencial de folhas de alecrim-pimenta (Lippia) is a shrubby medicinal plant with aromatic leaves and essential oil rich in thymol and carvacrol. These components have great importance to the species since they present scientifically proven pharmacological activities. Thus, the study of cultivation conditions for this species is essential to obtain higher productivity. Spacing between plants is one of the most important factors related to cultivation, since crop productivit… Show more

“…As averages followed by a capital letter in the column and lowercase in the row, they do not differ from each other by the Tukey test (p ≤ 0.05). Melo et al (2011) observed the highest average value for pepper-rosmarin oil yield in the lowest spacing used (1.0 × 0.5 m). Marco et al (2006), working with lemon grass (Cymbopogon winterianus J.…”

“…Then samples of fresh material were used to determine the level of essential oil, by hydrodistillation, using Clevenger equipment (Figueiredo et al, 2009;Melo et al, 2011). The aerial part was fragmented, weighed, the sample of approximately 100 g of the plant, placed in a glass flask with distilled water (Figueiredo et al, 2009;Melo et al, 2011).…”

“…The extraction process was conducted for four hours. After this period of time, the product resulting from the extraction was submitted to a drying process in a forced air circulation chamber for the determination of the dry matter sample (60ºC, to constant weight) (Figueiredo et al, 2009;Melo et al, 2011). The content of essential oil was estimated based on the dry material (g of oil 100g…”
