Molecular cloning and expression analysis of a zebrafish novel zinc finger protein gene rnf141

Abstract: ZNF230 is a novel zinc finger gene cloned by our laboratory. In order to understand the potential functions of this gene in vertebrate development, we cloned the zebrafish orthologue of human ZNF230, named rnf141. The cDNA fragment of rnf141 was obtained by rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE). The open reading frame (ORF) encodes a polypeptide of 222 amino acids which shares 75.65% identity with the human ZNF230. RT-PCR analysis in zebrafish embryo and adult tissues revealed that rnf141 transcripts are mat… Show more

“…On the other hand, RNF183 exerts a positive effect on the proliferation and metastasis of CRC cells by activating NF-κB-IL-8 axis [22]. Importantly, the previous studies find that RNF141 promotes spermatogenic cell proliferation and sperm maturation, as well as motility and fertilization in mouse spermatogenesis [23], and exerts a broad function on the development of embryos [24]. Another study shows that there is an increased expression of RNF141 in Barrett's esophagus or esophageal adenocarcinoma than that in normal esophagus [16].…”

“…The amphioxus zfp665 contains four sequential C2H2 zinc finger DNA binding domains at its N-terminus ( Fig 8B), and we were unable to identify a clear orthologue in zebrafish or other species that we have searched. Nevertheless, several zinc finger domain-containing proteins have been found to regulate axial patterning in Drosophila [59], zebrafish [60] and Xenopus [61]. We hypothesize that the overexpressed amphioxus zfp665 may behave like some unidentified endogenous C2H2 zinc finger protein to control zebrafish eve1 expression.…”
