A B S T R A C TJatropha curcas L. proves to be a promising species, considering its inclusion in the National Program of Biodiesel Production and Use. However, since it has not been genetically improved, agronomic information is still scarce in the literature, especially under conditions of water and nutritional stress. Thus, this field study aimed to evaluate the effects of irrigation depths (735; 963; 1,191; 1,418 and 1,646 mm) and nitrogen fertilization (0; 25; 50 and 75 kg ha -1 ) on the production of Jatropha plants. Plants under the highest irrigation depth showed the highest values of number of fruits and productivity of fruits, seeds and albumen. Plants under the irrigation depth of 1,191 mm showed the highest values of mean mass of albumen and the ratios between mass of albumen and mass of seeds and between mass of albumen and mass of fruits. Nitrogen fertilization did not influence the production components of Jatropha.Componentes de produção do pinhão-manso sob irrigação e adubação nitrogenada no semiárido cearense R E S U M O O cultivo do pinhão-manso (Jatropha curcas L.) se revela promissor ao se considerar sua inserção no Programa Nacional da produção de biodiesel, mas, por ser uma espécie não melhorada geneticamente, suas informações agronômicas ainda são pouco frequentes na literatura, sobretudo em condições de estresse hídrico e nutricional. Face ao exposto, realizou-se este trabalho de campo para avaliar os efeitos de lâminas de irrigação aplicadas, de 735; 963; 1.191; 1.418 e 1.646 mm e adubação nitrogenada aos níveis de 0; 25; 50 e 75 kg ha -1 de N na produção das plantas de pinhão-manso. Os maiores valores do número de frutos, produtividade de frutos, sementes e albúmen foram obtidos das plantas irrigadas com a maior lâmina aplicada. Os maiores valores da massa média do albúmen e das relações entre massa de albúmen e de semente e entre a massa de albúmen e do fruto foram obtidos nas plantas irrigadas com a lâmina de 1.191 mm. A adubação nitrogenada não influenciou os componentes de produção do pinhão-manso.

-The objective of this work was to evaluate the physiological behavior at different times of the day and the level of dependence between physiological variables and meteorological elements in Aleurites fordii seedlings. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, using a completely randomized experimental design, in a uniform scheme composed of 10 evaluation times (from 8 am to 5 pm, with an interval of 1h between evaluations) and three replications. Each replicate consisted of three evaluation plants, totaling nine seedlings, which were arranged on a double border. The following characteristics were evaluated: leaf temperature (°C), photosynthetically active solar radiation (mol S -1 m -2 ), stomatal resistance (S cm -1 ), and transpiration (mmol H 2 O s -1 m -2 ) over a typical day, using a LI-1600 LI-COR digital porometer. The temperature and relative humidity were measured inside the greenhouse, using a thermohygrograph. The evaluations were performed at 244 days after sowing, between 8:00 and 17:00, with an interval of 60 minutes, totaling 10 evaluations. The physiological changes of Aleurites fordii seedlings are affected by the time of day. In general, the physiological variables are highly dependent on meteorological elements. The temperature of the greenhouse and the relative humidity are the meteorological elements that most influence the physiological behavior of Aleurites fordii seedlings.Keywords: Transpiration; Stomata; Photosynthetically active solar radiation. RELAÇÕES FISIOLÓGICAS EM MUDAS DE Aleurites fordii Hemsl.RESUMO -O trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o comportamento fisiológico em diferentes horários do dia e o nível de dependência entre variáveis fisiológicas e elementos meteorológicos em mudas de Aleurites fordii. O experimento foi conduzido em casa de vegetação, utilizando-se delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado, em esquema unifatorial composto por 10 horários de avaliação (das 8 às 17h, com intervalo de 1h entre as avaliações) e três repetições. Cada repetição era constituída por três plantas de avaliação, totalizando nove mudas, as quais estavam dispostas sobre bordadura dupla. Foram avaliadas as características: temperatura da folha (°C), radiação solar fotossinteticamente ativa (ìmol S -1 m -2 ), resistência estomática (S cm -1 ) e transpiração (mmol H 2 O s -1 m -2 ) ao longo de um dia típico, com uso de um porômetro digital LI-1600 LI-COR. As medidas da temperatura e umidade relativa do ar foram determinadas dentro do ambiente protegido, utilizando-se um termohigrógrafo. As avaliações foram realizadas aos 244 dias após a semeadura, entre 8:00 e 17:00h, com intervalo de 60 minutos, totalizando 10 avaliações. R ESU M ENEl objetivo de este trabajo fue analizar la producción de biomasa aérea, la eficiencia del uso de agua y el valor nutritivo de alfalfa cultivada aplicando riego con agua residual urbana, agua de perforación y un testigo (precipitaciones), en el Campus de la Universidad Nacional de Rio Cuarto (Córdoba-Argentina). Los tratamientos de riego tuvieron un efecto positivo sobre la producción de biomasa aérea obteniéndose un 24% más de producción de biomasa que en la situación de secano (precipitaciones). Entre los tratamientos con riego también se manifestaron diferencias estadísticamente significativas. La alfalfa regada con aguas residuales urbana supero en un 19% a la cultivada con agua de perforación. La eficiencia del uso del agua por parte del cultivo se incrementó cuando el riego se realizó con aguas residuales urbanas. Además, se determinó que la alfalfa regada con agua residual, supera los valores nutritivos del cultivo que crece en condiciones sin riego; encontrándose 39% más de proteínas, 14% más de digestibilidad e igual porcentaje de energía metabólica. Se puede concluir que el agua residual urbana representa otra posible fuente de agua, factible de ingresar al suelo y estar a disposición para el cultivo de alfalfa. Palabras-clave: Medicago sativa L, tratamiento de agua, filtros verdes, biomasa, calidad ambientalThe cultivation of alfalfa using artesian well water, urban wastewater and rainfall A B ST R A C T The objective of this study was to analyse the production of alfalfa biomass, the efficiency of water use and the nutritional value of forage, inside an irrigation structure of an experimental facility that uses treated urban wastewater, artesian well water and rainfall, at the campus of the Universidad National de Rio Cuarto (Córdoba-Argentina). The irrigation treatment had a positive effect on the production of biomass of alfalfa. On an average 24% increase in production was observed when compared to dry-land farming. Regarding the quality of the irrigation water, statistical differences in production were observed, the irrigation with urban wastewater produced 19% more than that of well water. The efficiency of the water use by the crop increased when the irrigation was done using urban wastewater. The alfalfa irrigated with wastewater surpasses the nutritional values of the crop in normal field conditions: 39% more proteins, 14% more digestibility and equal percentage of metabolic energy. It is concluded that the urban wastewater represents possible water source for the alfalfa crop.
