-Minimizing environmental impacts and increasing crop productivity depend mainly on the knowledge of chemical, physical and mineralogical characteristics of the soil attributes. However, traditional methods are timeconsuming and costly. The objective of this study was to determine and validate a method to quantify soil attributes using UV-Vis-NIR Spectroscopy as an alternative to conventional methods of soil analyses. The work comprised two main phases: (1) creation and calibration of statistical models to determine the soil attributes derived from spectral data extracted from soil samples collected in area 1, (2) validation of statistical models in area 2 and correlations between the estimated and observed values (conventional method) for each soil attribute. The equations of the attributes Fe 2 O 3 , Al 2 O 3 , and clay reached R 2 > 0.80 and may be applied to a different database than the one that was used to generate the equations, provided that they belong to the same study site.Key words: Reflectance. Remote Sensing.RESUMO -A minimização de impactos ambientais e o aumento da produtividade agrícola dependem, principalmente, do conhecimento de características químicas, físicas e mineralógicas do solo. Os métodos tradicionais utilizados para este fim consomem muito tempo e são de elevado custo financeiro. O objetivo deste trabalho foi o de testar e validar um método de quantificação de atributos do solo pela energia eletromagnética refletida e detectada por espectrorradiometro no visível e infravermelho. Este procedimento surge como apoio ao método convencional de análise de solo. Para sua execução, as etapas de trabalho compreenderam duas fases: (1) criação e calibração de modelos estatísticos de determinação dos atributos do solo obtidos a partir de dados espectrais (obtidos por sensor em laboratório 450-2500 nm) extraídos de amostras de terra em uma área; (2) validação dos modelos estatísticos numa outra área desconhecida e correlações entre os valores estimados e determinados (método convencional). Concluiu-se que as equações dos atributos Fe 2 O 3 , Al 2 O 3 e Argila, atingiram R 2 > 0,80 podendo ser aplicadas a uma base de dados diferente daquela que foi utilizada na geração das equações, desde que pertença a mesma região de estudo.Palavras-Chave: Reflectância. RESUMOOs modelos matemáticos mecanísticos são baseados na descrição do processo que ocorre no sistema real considerado, ou seja, existe a tentativa de se considerar os princípios físicos e biológicos que ocorrem no sistema. O objetivo deste trabalho foi calibrar e testar um modelo de simulação mecanístico para obtenção da produção de grãos e matéria seca da cultura do milho, comparando os resultados obtidos na simulação com os resultados obtidos em um experimento de campo conduzido sob diferentes níveis de irrigação. O experimento de campo foi realizado em área experimental da Fazenda Liberdade, município de Santiago, RS. O híbrido de milho Pioner 32R22 foi conduzido em diferentes níveis de irrigação (0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% e 100% da evapotranspiração de referência). A calibração do modelo foi realizada com os dados do tratamento de 0% da evapotranspiração e posteriormente realizaram-se simulações de níveis de irrigação conforme o experimento de campo. Os resultados obtidos mostraram que o modelo de produção apresenta uma calibração dentro da faixa aceitável para modelos de simulação de produção de culturas agrícolas. O teste dos dados simulados demonstrou variação inferior a 10% e igualdade estatística na comparação dos resultados obtidos no campo com os dados simulados pelo modelo. in recent years, geotechnologies as remote and proximal sensing and attributes derived from digital terrain elevation models indicated to be very useful for the description of soil variability. however, these information sources are rarely used together. therefore, a methodology for assessing and specialize soil classes using the information obtained from remote/proximal sensing, Gis and technical knowledge has been applied and evaluated. two areas of study, in the state of são Paulo, Brazil, totaling approximately 28.000 ha were used for this work. first, in an area (area 1), conventional pedological mapping was done and from the soil classes found patterns were obtained with the following information: a) spectral information (forms of features and absorption intensity of spectral curves with 350 wavelengths -2,500 nm) of soil samples collected at specific points in the area (according to each soil type); b) obtaining equations for determining chemical and physical properties of the soil from the relationship between the results obtained in the laboratory by the conventional method, the levels of chemical and physical attributes with the spectral data; c) supervised classification of Landsat TM 5 images, in order to detect changes in the size of the soil particles (soil texture); d) relationship between classes relief soils and attributes. subsequently, the obtained patterns were applied in area 2 obtain pedological classification of soils, but in GIS (ArcGIS). finally, we developed a conventional pedological mapping in area 2 to which was compared with a digital map, ie the one obtained only with pre certain standards. the proposed methodology had a 79 % accuracy in the first categorical level of Soil Classification System, 60 % accuracy in the second category level and became less useful in the categorical level 3 (37 % accuracy).
