Pasteurella multocida B:2 causes haemorrhagic septicaemia (HS) in cattle and buffalo, leading to acute death of many animals, usually in the form of outbreaks. HS occurs especially in Asia and Africa, leading to devastating loss of animals and economics. The involvement of respiratory tract as the route of infection and transmission has been well established. The present study describes the distribution of P. multocida B:2 using bacteriological isolations in the respiratory, gastrointestinal and urinary tracts of buffalo calves following different dosages of subcutaneous exposure to live wild-type P. multocida B:2. Nine buffalo calves were divided into 3 groups before calves of Group 1 were inoculated subcutaneously with 10 9 cfu/ml of live wild-type P. multocida B:2. Calves of Group 2 were similarly inoculated with 10 5 cfu/ml while calves of Group 3 were exposed to PBS. All calves of Group 1 were euthanised between 6 and 12 h post-infection, while calves Group 2 were euthanized between 24 and 48 h post-infection. P. multocida B:2 was isolated from the lungs, liver, deodenum, rectum, urinary bladder swabs and the urine of all infected calves of Groups 1 and 2. Bacterial concentration varied between the organs with the lungs showed significantly (p<0.05) higher concentration than other tracts. Nevertheless, duodenum, colon, liver and urinary bladder of infected calves showed considerably high concentrations of P. multocida B: 2. Both infected groups showed similar concentrations of P. multocida B:2 in the respiratory, gastrointestinal and urinary tracts. Isolation and detection of P. multocida B:2 in the gastrointestinal and urinary tracts of infected calves re-emphasize the role of these tracts in transmission of haemorrhagic septicaemia and aid in understanding the terminal stage of bacteraemia in HS.

Authors describe the lower respiratory tract between sheep (Ovis aris) and goat(carpus hircus) by involved five adult male sheep and goats to investigate the anatomical features of lower respiratory tract in indigenous sheep and goat. The samples of the lower respiratory tract were collected from Baghdad slaughter house the external feature trachea and lung deals with the shape, weight, relationship, ligamentation and position of the lower respiratory tract. The trachea in both species was long flexible hollow tube with uncompleted cartilagenous rings were situated in the median line of cervical region ventrally, trachea was showed started from the first tracheal ring cartilaginous with the cricoids cartilage of the larynx. trachea was composed of two regions airway; cervical and thoracic, the tracheal ring shape were C shape in goat and U shape in sheep, the numbers of tracheal rings in sheep and goat were 49.2 ± 0.37, 51.2 ± 0.47, respectively. The total mean length of the right and left main bronchi in both sheep and goat were 2.26±0.092cm, 2.10±0.077cm, 2.12±0.037cm, 1.96±0.005cm, respectively. The total mean tracheal length in both sheep and goat were 30.4± 0.50cm, 24.7±0.34cm, respectively. The lungs of both animals look like spongy soft organ, surrounded the heart which was located in the mediastinum and enveloped by visceral and parietal pleura. The lung of both animals have anterior apex and posterior base, lung composed right and left lobe the right apical lobe subdivided into cranial and caudal part while undivided in goat, both animals left lung composed of apical and caudal lobe, the apical was subdivided into cranial and caudal part

This paper presents a comprehensive anatomic overview of normal pulmonary vascularization in American mink (Neovison vison), with an emphasis on venous and arterial peculiarities as regards its course and potential disruptions. The study is designed as macro-morphological and vascular network analysis of the lungs in fifteen minks of different age and gender. Dissection is conducted along with the injection and corrosion method in order to clearly visualize the vascular topology, bronchial tree, arterial and venous trees and their interconnections. The specimens exhibit consistence in the arterial branching pattern with negligible range of alterations. It was noticed that upon leaving the right ventricle of the heart, the pulmonary trunk divides ventrally from the site of tracheal bifurcation. The divisions were identified as the left and right pulmonary arteries, which then ramified in the left and right lung, respectively. Left a. pulmonalis further divides into two major branches: ramus lobi cranialis and ramus lobi caudalis, while the right a. pulmonalis gives five major branches for the lobes in the right lung. Total of five pulmonary veins leave the pulmonary lobes and enter the left atrium of the heart. Mink has a distinct niche in biomedical research, proving as a suitable model to enhance the understandings of the various diseases. Gained insights are valuable as reference values for examination of the vasculature in other Mustelidae species, recognition of potential deviations and vascular remodeling due to respiratory diseases.
