Abstract

Mais humano que um humano: A halitose como emblema da patologização odontológica More human than human: Halitosis as the hallmark of pathological dental omission Resumo A perspectiva teórica de análise desenvolvida relaciona-se com o fato de que o conhecimento odontológico não deve ser visto como algo universal, independente da realidade, mas participante da sua construção. Explora a idéia simbolizada na colonização do conhecimento da Odontologia contemporânea para além do "mais humano que um humano". Com o exemplo da crescente patologização da halitose, como uma desordem objetiva não só da saúde bucal, mas que afeta aos indivíduos, este trabalho desenvolve uma análise da (re)invenção de patologias, via tecnologias de visualização, na modernidade tardia. Conclui que a veracidade do conhecimento odontológico, entre os seus principais atores, os seus discursos e suas práticas sociais, nunca é neutra, mas sempre articulada aos interesses com os quais está envolvida permanentemente. O olfato desliza do saber à memória e do espaço ao tempo e certamente das coisas aos seres. A halitose é, muitas vezes, improvável, misturada, singular, incerta em tempo e lugar. Palavras-chave Saúde bucal coletiva, Epistemologia odontológica, Halitose, Modernidade tardia Abstract The theoretical perspective of the analysis conducted is linked to the fact that dental awareness should not be seen as something universal, independent from reality, though participating in its construction. This paper explores the idea symbolized in the colonization of contemporary Dentistry awareness to beyond « the more human than human ». With the example of the increasing pathologization of halitosis, as an objective disorder not only of oral health, but that affects individuals, this work develops an analysis of the (re)invention of pathologies, through visualization technologies in late modernity. It concludes that the veracity of dental awareness, among the main actors, its discourses and its social practices, is never neutral, but always articulated to the interests with which it is permanently involved. The sense of smell moves from knowledge memory and from space to time and certainly from things to beings. Halitosis is, most of the times, unlikely, mixed, singular, and uncertain in time and place.
