Show more

“…However, the coefficients of variation of TCH, TSH, and TFH were higher (32.59, 36.78, and 30.60%, respectively) ( Table 2). In studies with sugarcane families, Jackson et al (1995) and Moraes et al (2010) found similar values for these traits. In studies of energy cane families, Silveira et al (2016) found very similar values of CVe for the traits PC, FIB, TCH, TSH, and TFH to those obtained in this study.…”

“…For the yield-related traits TSH, TCH, and TFH, the values were high (20.15, 21.02, and 21.97%, respectively). In the studies of sugarcane families of Moraes et al (2010), the results of CVg for TCH and TSH were very similar (19.51 and 19.56%), and lower for FIB, BRIX, and PC (1.46 to 5.08%). Balsalobre et al (2016) reported very close values for BRIX, PC, and FIB, and lower values for the traits TCH and TSH.…”

“…In agreement, Brasileiro (2013), Castro (2012), Moraes, Bastos, Filho, Melo, and Reis (2010), Oliveira, Daros, and Filho (2008), and Lucius, Oliveira, Daros, Filho, and Verissimo (2014) studied efficiency and performance of family selection in sugarcane; in all cases, the family selection method was superior to mass selection, in cases where the CV g values were on the order of 18 and 36% for TCH, respectively. For TBH, CV g values on the order of 45.87 and 36.44% were obtained in studies conducted by Moraes et al (2010), Oliveira et al (2011), and Oliveira et al (2013). Additionally, in a simulation study with a model of interaction between family and environment and in an analysis of total and family variance performed by Jackson, Bull, and McRae (1995), selection gains and superiority of family selection were reported in most cases.…”
