Correlation Among Damages Caused by Yellow Beetle, Climatological Elements and Production of Guava Accesses Grown in Organic System

-The objective of this research was evaluate the damage caused by the yellow beetle on 85 guava accessions and correlations of the damage with the climatological elements and the production of fruit in an orchard of guava conducted in organic system. Ten leaves by access were analyzed containing the injury of insect attack. Each leaf had its foliar area measured by leaf area meter and, after obtaining the total area, the leaf was covered with duct tape, and measure again. The averages were compared by Scott-Knott test at 5% probability. The 15 accessions with highest average damage had the data submitted to the correlation with the minimum and maximum temperature, precipitation and relative humidity. The production was obtained by the number of fruits/plant. The damages are negatively correlated with the mean relative humidity of 7:00h (local time) in the period of 14 days prior to the assessments, and negatively affect production. The accessions Saito, L4P16, Monte Alto Comum 1 and L5P19 are promising in organic agriculture, for presenting good production and minor damage to insect attack, when compared to others. CORRELAÇÃO ENTRE DANOS OCASIONADOS PELO BESOURO AMARELO, ELEMENTOS CLIMATOLÓGICOS E PRODUÇÃO DE ACESSOS DE GOIABEIRA CULTIVADOS EM SISTEMA ORGÂNICORESUMO -O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar os danos ocasionados pelo besouro amarelo em 85 acessos de goiabeira e as correlações dos mesmos com os elementos climatológicos e a produção, em um pomar de goiaba conduzido em sistema orgânico. Foram analisadas 10 folhas por acesso contendo a injúria do ataque do inseto. Cada folha foi medida com medidor de área foliar e, após a obtenção da área total, a folha foi coberta com fita adesiva, e medida novamente. As médias foram comparadas pelo teste de Scott-Knott, a 5% de probabilidade. Os 15 acessos com maior média de danos tiveram os dados submetidos à correlação com a temperatura mínima e máxima, a precipitação e a umidade relativa. A produção foi obtida pelo número de frutos/planta. Os danos mostraram-se correlacionados negativamente com a média da umidade relativa das 7 h no período de 14 dias que antecedem as avaliações, afetando negativamente a produção de frutos. Os acessos Saito, L4P16, Monte Alto Comum 1 e L5P19 são promissores na agricultura orgânica, por apresentarem boa produção e menor dano ao ataque do inseto, quando comparados aos demais. Triozoida limbata is considered one of the leading pests of guava crop in Brazil. Its nymphs are responsible for sucking leaf borders, causing curling and drying of the leaves, and leaving them with a necrotic appearance. Knowledge of the spatial distribution of nymphs of T. limbata is essential for improving sampling and control techniques. The objective of this study was to perform probabilistic analyses of patterns of spatial distribution of nymphs of T. limbata in guava orchards. The study was conducted in four guava orchards in Ivinhema, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. Samplings were performed every 15 days, from April 2012 to March 2014. To obtain the nymph counts, a sampling area was demarcated in each orchard, comprising 50 sampling units. In each unit, a sample was taken randomly from a shoot of 10 cm to 15 cm in length at the median height of the central plant. Dispersion rates were calculated (variance/mean ratio, Morisita index, and Exponent k of Negative Binomial Distribution) and the data obtained in the field were adjusted to the theoretical frequency distributions (Poisson and Negative Binomial). Following the analyses, we concluded that nymphs of T. limbata in the studied populations were randomly organized in the four areas that were evaluated, and the sampling data have been adjusted to the Poisson distribution model.

RESUMOO conhecimento sobre a flutuação populacional da mosca-das-frutas (Diptera: Tephritidae) constitui uma importante ferramenta na adoção de métodos de controle; assim, esta pesquisa objetivou analisar a flutuação populacional de adultos de mosca-das-frutas e a infestação de larvas nos frutos, em função dos sistemas de produção convencional e orgânica de goiaba na safra agrícola 2010/2011. Para o monitoramento de adultos da mosca-das-frutas foram instaladas cinco armadilhas adesivas amarelas, em cada sistema; a porcentagem de infestação e o cálculo da relação número de larvas/número de frutos foram avaliados durante a colheita, através da coleta de dez frutos maduros/planta, em dez plantas, em cada sistema; no sistema orgânico ocorreu predominância do gênero Anastrepha, principalmente no período em que os frutos se apresentaram em maturação ou maduros, representados pela elevada porcentagem de infestação, porquanto que o sistema convencional apresentou baixa densidade populacional de moscadas-frutas, com reduzida infestação de larvas no interior dos frutos.Palavras-chave: Insecta, manejo integrado de pragas, monitoramento populacional, Psidium guajava L., tefritídeos Population fluctuation and incidence of fruit flies (Diptera: Tephritidae) in different systems of guava production ABSTRACTThe knowledge about population fluctuation of fruit flies (Diptera: Tephritidae) is an important tool to be adopted in pest control. Thus, this research aimed to analyse the population fluctuation of adults of fruit flies and the infestation of larvae in fruits depending on the conventional and organic agricultural systems of guava production in the 2010/2011 harvest. For monitoring the adults of fruit flies, five yellow sticky traps were installed in each system. The infestation percentage and the calculation of the ratio number of larvae/number of fruits were determined at harvest by harvesting 10 mature fruits/plant, in ten plants, for each system. In organic system predominated Anastrepha spp., principally in the period when the fruits were ripening or ripe, represented by elevated infestation percentage, while the conventional system presented low population density of fruit flies, with reduced larvae infestation inside the fruits.
