Multi-Criteria decision aid methodology applied to highway truck selection at a mining company

Abstract: In all mining projects, transportation costs influence net profit, justifying economic feasibility studies before transport fleet acquisition or replacement. These studies can provide the best loading and hauling equipment combination to meet production demands at lower costs by evaluating the alternatives available in the market. When there is more than one solution with similar costs and technical specifications, decision-making technics were considered to be used. Herein is presented the case of selecting h… Show more

“…The decision-makers focus on the cost or price criterion in any selection problem. In the related literature, some studies considered cost or price in their decision problem (Oztaysi et al, 2021;Mumani and Maghableh, 2021;Roy et al, 2018;Patil et al, 2017;de Sousa Junior et al, 2014). However, when a problem is evaluated within its own framework, the important criteria in other studies may lose their meaning.…”

“…Multi-criteria methods have already been used in surface mining. Examples can be the paper of Zajączkowski et al [14] in which the MCDA method was used to select the method of mechanical rock mining, or the work of Bodziony et al [15,16], in which the MCDA method was used in the problem of the selection of technological dump trucks in surface mines.…”
