Considering the significance of resilience in coping with adversity, how to improve college students’ resilience is worthy of attention. Previous studies have revealed that physical activity can promote resilience; however, few studies examined the mediating factors between them. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of physical activity on resilience, as well as the mediating effects of competence need, autonomy need, and relatedness need between physical activity and resilience. The study involved 2375 college students (1110 males and 1265 females), with an average age of 20.25 years (SD = 2.04). Participants completed the International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form, Basic Needs Satisfaction in General Scale, and Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale. Results showed that physical activity was positively associated with resilience, and the three basic needs played significant mediating roles between physical activity and resilience. The indirect effect of competence need was significantly greater than that of autonomy need and relatedness need. To conclude, physical activity plays an important role in resilience among college students, and the satisfaction of competence, autonomy, and relatedness needs mediates the relationship between physical activity and resilience, among which, competence need appears as the strongest mediator.

The issue of environmental protection and sustainable development is a key research focus across multiple fields. Employee green behavior is considered to be an important micro-activity to address this. Researchers in the field of organizational behavior and sustainable development have been focusing on the influencing factors of employee green behavior. However, few have explored the beneficial effects of employee green behavior on behavioral implementers. The objective of this study is to investigate the relationships among employee green behavior, self-esteem, perceived organizational support for employee environmental efforts, and employee well-being, and to explore a new dimension of employee green behavior. We empirically examined the underlying framework by conducting two surveys to collect data from 900 employees working in manufacturing, construction, and the service industry in China. We performed multilevel path analysis using SPSS and AMOS software, and confirmed that employee green behavior includes four dimensions: green learning, individual practice, influencing others, and organizational voices. Further, employee green behavior has a significant positive impact on self-esteem, which in turn is converted into employee well-being. Finally, perceived organizational support for employee environmental efforts not only positively moderated the relationship between employee green behavior and self-esteem, but was also confirmed as a moderated mediation model. This study enriches the current literature on the measurement framework and variables of employee green behavior.

Innovative composite structures have been intensively studied towards meeting the demands of civil construction. An example of such structures is slim floor, comprised of concrete or composite slabs positioned at the height of steel beams, reducing the total height of the floor. In Brazil, studies on this system are still in early stages, and due to the lack of both experience and national normative codes, it is hardly used in civil construction. Given the possible combinations between concrete slabs and steel beams, the system exhibits different typologies. This article reports a numerical investigation on two typologies of slim floor, namely Asymmetric Slimflor Beam (ASB), composed of an asymmetric I beam, and Composite Slim-Floor Beam (CoSFB), comprised of an asymmetric beam with small openings at the top of its web. Nonlinear numerical models of ASB and CoSFB typologies were developed by Finite Element-based software ABAQUS®. The models were calibrated with the use of experimental studies from the literature, and showed high accuracy and good results. After calibration, the materials properties and geometric dimensions of the models, such as height and thickness, were standardized for a comparison of the typologies. The comparative analysis showed the particular characteristics of CoSFB promoted higher stiffness and flexural capacity compared to ASB, and a parametric analysis evaluated the influence of steel and concrete parameters on the flexural behavior of the typologies. The parametric study revealed the steel parameters exerted a more substantial influence on the slim floors behavior than the concrete ones.
