Abstract: This report describes a 19-year old female patient, who sought medical attention for severe itching of two weeks' duration. Erythematous papules and wheals were found, principally on her upper and lower limbs. Careful anamnesis excluded other etiologies of the pruritus, including those related to internal diseases and medication. Following counseling regarding the need to contract a domestic pest control company, the patient returned to the clinic three weeks later with no skin lesions and bearing a glass jar … Show more

“…Bed bug bites can be distributed in a clustered arrangement or in a sequential, linear arrangement, and this arrangement is colloquially referred to as the “breakfast, lunch, and dinner” pattern [25]. The bed bug bites generally present as 2–5 mm pruritic, erythematous papules with a central punctum often on the limbs [10, 15, 18, 38]. Bed bug bites may be complicated by excoriations and secondary infections [18, 44], and rare systemic reactions, such as anaphylaxis, have also been reported [18, 43].…”

“…The clinical picture depends on previous exposure to the insect and the degree of immune response of the patient, which can present from cutaneous reactions, whose lesion morphology includes macules, papules and seropapules, pustules, blisters and nodules, to systemic reactions, such as urticaria and anaphylaxis. 7 , 8 …”
