Show more

“…Considering that MS involves narrow initial margins of 1–2 mm, the median of a single MS stage for complete tumour resection indicates that CS may offer comparable effectiveness in many cases, along with advantages in terms of lower costs and shorter surgical durations. Previous case series in which MS was performed have also shown that more than 50% of tumours were completely removed by a single stage of surgery, supporting the cost‐effectiveness of CS in situations where achieving an appropriate oncological margin is feasible 51–53 …”

“…Previous case series in which MS was performed have also shown that more than 50% of tumours were completely removed by a single stage of surgery, supporting the cost-effectiveness of CS in situations where an appropriate oncological margin is feasible. [51][52][53] It is important to note that non-invasive techniques have been employed to optimize margin detection efficiency in both CS and MS. These methods address certain drawbacks associated with MS, such as costs and surgical time.…”

“…3 In contrast, the spread of MMS was relatively slow in Europe. Microscopically controlled surgery in Europe is based on the M€ unich method 4 and 3D histology 5 with MMS 6 becoming relatively prevalent only in recent years. Meanwhile in Turkey, surgical treatment of skin cancers is mostly performed by plastic surgeons via standard surgical excision.…”
