PSE 2009 i s the tenth in t he triennial series of international symposia on process systems engineering, initiated in 1982. PSE 2009 was h eld in Salvador, Bah ia, Brazil, in August 2009. Th e purpose of these triennial meetin gs is to gather round t he worldwide community of PSE researchers and practition ers.
