Synthesis and characterization of Al- and Ti-MCM-41 materials: application to oxidation of anthracene

Abstract: -The synthesis and characterization of new molecular sieves of the MCM-41 type are presented in this study. Samples were obtained from the alkoxides of Si, Ti and Al and different long-chain amine and alkylammonium salts surfactants, by the sol-gel method, through moderate agitation at room temperature. The reactions were conducted in two steps, acid hydrolysis (pH=2) and alkaline condensation (pH=10), both taking about 90min. The synthesized crystals were characterized using infrared spectroscopy, thermogravi… Show more

Araujo et al, [8] [10] reported that the aluminum present is significantly affected by number of aluminum because it causes alteration between hexagonal porous shape without destroying its primary crystal. This phenomenon demonstrated that any different pore that was built using the condensation process.…”

“…MCM-41 materials are aluminosilicates with weak and middle-strength acid sites similar to amorphous silica-alumina. MCM-41 has been used as catalyst for various reactions such as dehydration 3 , oxidation 4 , aldol condensation 5 , copolymerization 6 . The catalytic activity of MCM-41 for nitration of phenol has been reported and it is observed that acid sites in the catalyst are responsible for the activity 7 .…”
