Stochastic simulation of supercritical fluid extraction processes

Abstract: Process simulation involves the evaluation of output variables by the specification of input variables and process parameters. However, in a real process, input data and parameters cannot be known without uncertainty. This fact may limit the utilization of simulation results to predict plant behavior. In order to achieve a more realistic analysis, the procedure of stochastic simulation can be conducted. This technique is based on a large set of simulation runs where input variables and parameters are randomly … Show more

“…A density function is desirable to describe uncertainty statistics. [4,5] Stochastic methods have been proposed to estimate and minimize these uncertainties. A widely used method is the Monte Carlo (MC) method.…”

“…Uncertainty analysis has been employed in technical and economic assessments of emerging technologies for electricity generation , and other chemical processes . In these new technologies, the phenomenological representations or models of the process involve several parameters whose values are still part of experimental research (involving high degrees of uncertainty) or simply unknown; these parameters are considered as the uncertain variables for the stochastic simulation.…”
