Abstract: Lyme disease (LD) is a frequent zoonosis found in the Northern Hemisphere and is considered an infectious disease caused by spirochetes belonging to Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato complex, transmitted by ticks of the Ixodes ricinus group.
