A participação da comunidade no Projeto Escola Aberta no Rio Grande do Sul: o uso da escola pública nos finais de semana

Abstract

Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo analisar as ações desenvolvidas no Projeto Escola Aberta em cinco escolas da rede estadual de ensino do Rio Grande do Sul, buscando compreender como os sujeitos participantes das ações percebiam o Projeto e a própria participação nas atividades desenvolvidas durante os finais de semana. A identificação do tipo de atividade realizada e a responsabilidade pela coordenação de cada uma delas também foram alvo desta investigação. Neste artigo são discutidos quatro aspectos que se sobressaíram na análise das ações do Escola Aberta: a) o significado atribuído pela comunidade ao uso da escola nos finais de semana; b) o papel da equipe diretiva na abertura das escolas às comunidades; c) a relação permanência na escola e redução da violência; d) o caráter voluntário da oferta de ações no Projeto. A abordagem metodológica adotada nesta pesquisa foi de natureza qualitativa. Todo o trabalho de campo foi desenvolvido no ano de 2006. Identificou-se com este estudo que há o desejo, por parte das populações que vivem no entorno das escolas, pela realização de atividades nos finais de semana, configurando a instituição como espaço de lazer que serve, ao mesmo tempo, para o divertimento e para a formação.
