The aim of this study was to evaluate the quality of life (QoL) and depression, and relate them to the sociodemographic characteristics of nursing technicians and nursing assistants in a private hospital. This was an epidemiological and cross-sectional study. The number of technicians and assistants who participated in this study was 266. The instruments used were the WHOQOL-BREF and the Beck Depression Inventory. The evaluation of quality of life of nursing technicians and assistants showed similar values to those found in individuals with chronic diseases. The presence of health problems led to higher indices of depression and lower QoL scores in the general and psychological domains and correlated to labor activity. Night-shift workers had higher scores of depression. Understanding factors, related to professional activities, which trigger health problems and alter quality of life, can provide tools in the search for alternatives to remedy or mitigate their effects. Evaluación de la calidad de vida y de la depresión de técnicos y auxiliares de enfermeríaEl objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar la calidad de vida (CV) y depresión, y relacionarlos a las características sociodemográficas de técnicos y auxiliares de enfermería de un hospital privado. Se trata de un estudio epidemiológico y transversal. La cantidad de técnicos y auxiliares que participaron de este estudio fue de 266. Los instrumentos aplicados fueron el WHOQOL-bref y el inventario de depresión de Beck. La evaluación de la calidad de vida de los técnicos y auxiliares de enfermería presentó valores próximos a aquellos encontrados en individuos con patologías crónicas. La presencia de problemas de salud llevó a un mayor índice de depresión y menor puntaje de CV en el aspecto general y psicológico; también se correlacionaron a la actividad laboral. Los trabajadores del período nocturno presentaron puntajes más elevados de depresión. Conocer los factores desencadenantes de los problemas de salud y de alteración de la calidad de vida, relacionados a las actividades profesionales, puede instrumentalizar la búsqueda de alternativas para sanar o minimizar sus efectos.

Essa experiência curricular inovadora foi desenvolvida na Universidade Estadual de Maringá e teve como objetivo relatar a experiência do PET-SAÚDE com o Grupo de Trabalho de Humanização de uma Unidade Básica de Saúde. A coleta de dados aconteceu por meio da observação participante e pela leitura das atas das reuniões da (UBS). Discutiram-se as possibilidades e limitações de um grupo de trabalho de humanização, com profissionais da UBS por meio dos pressupostos da Política Nacional de Humanização. O grupo de trabalho de humanização chegou aos seguintes resultados: há desconhecimento por parte dos servidores sobre o que é o Grupo de Trabalho de Humanização; há desqualificação das opiniões dos mesmos por conta da direção; há falta de representantes de todas as categorias profissionais; o grupo é gerador de ideias para a melhoria dos serviços oferecidos na unidade.

The article aims to trace the profile of publications concerning the concept of subjective well-being (SWB), considered the scientific study of happiness, as well as discussing the impact of this accumulated understanding on health promotion. The revision was carried out in the databases PubMed, MedLine, PsycINFO, SciELO, LILACS and PEPSIC using the descriptor subjective well-being. Articles published in indexed periodicals between 1970 and 2008 were selected. From the inclusion/exclusion criteria 19 publications were selected in full for discussion. Of these, the majority were related to the health area and did not approach the concept of SWB directly, but touched on this together with the notions of wellbeing, satisfaction and quality of life. There were few publications that approached the term conceptually or that defined the instruments used for the assessment of SWB. Concluding, the results confirm the relevance of the theme for health promotion and the necessity of investigations related to the practices of health professionals.Descriptors: Happiness; Review Literature as Topic; Health Promotion. El estudio científico de la felicidad y la promoción de la salud: revisión integradora de la literatura El trabajo tuvo como objetivo investigar el perfil de publicaciones referentes al concepto del bienestar subjetivo (BES), así como la discusión del impacto en la promoción de la Entre éstos, la mayoría se refería al área de la salud y no abordaba el concepto de BES directamente, sin embargo lo evocaba juntamente con las nociones de bienestar, satisfacción y calidad de vida. Pocos trabajos abordan la conceptualización del término o definen los instrumentos utilizados para la evaluación del BES. Se concluyó que resultados confirman la actualidad y pertinencia del tema para la promoción de la salud y la necesidad de realizar nuevas investigaciones relacionadas con la práctica de los profesionales de la salud.Descriptores: Felicidad; Literatura de Revisión como Assunto; Promoción de la Salud.
