Rotational and vibrational bands in 108Pd

Abstract: The 108 Pd nucleus has been studied with the 100 Mo( 11 B, p2nγ) reaction at 43 MeV incident energy. γ − γ − t, γ −γ− charged particle coincidences and directional correlation ratios were measured using the γ spectrometer formed by four Compton suppressed HPGe detectors and a 4π charged-particle ancillary detector system. The struture of the bands was interpreted within the framework of the cranked shell model and total Routhian calculations.

“…γ rays and charged particles have been detected using the SACI-PERERE array. SACI [12] (Sistema Ancilar de Cintiladores) is a 4π charged particle telescope system consisting of 11 plastic phoswich scintillators, arranged in the geometry of a dodecahedron. Each telescope consists of a 0.1 mm thick fast scintillation (BC400, 2.4 ns) E detector bonded to a 10 mm thick long decay time (BC444, 264 ns) E detector.…”

“…Perere (Pequeno Espectrômetro de Radiação Eletromagnética com Rejeição de Espalhamento) is the γ−ray spectrometer consisting of 4 HPGe detectors with BGO Compton-shields. The two fusion reactions were performed mainly for nuclear structure studies, with special interest in the nuclei: 105 Rh [4], 108 Pd [5] and 60,61 Ni [6]. γγ and γ-particle matrices in coincidence with protons and α−particles detected at forward (0 • ), middle (63 • ) and backward (117 • ) angles were analyzed in order to extract yield ratios between the γ-transition intensities.…”
