For the manufacturing industry in particular, networks lead to an increasing interaction between different actors representing a complementary response to insecurity arising from internationalization subjects. The aim of this study is to understand how cooperation networks contribute to the international sustainability of the manufacturing industry. To carry out this study, a qualitative methodology was chosen through semi-structured interviews with eight companies in the manufacturing sector from different areas. The interviews were handled with NVIVO software support. Regarding the findings, it is unanimous that cooperation networks are essential for the internationalization of the manufacturing industry. In general, the companies that participated in the study believe that the networks helped to reduce costs and to have access to certain resources that were essential for the success of internationalization. Furthermore, the findings suggest that the size of the country and the low purchasing power were some of the substantial factors that triggered the process of searching for new markets. It also became evident that there are barriers that need to be taken into account at the time of internationalization and that cooperation with other companies can help to overcome them. This study provides empirical evidence on the importance of cooperation networks for the internationalization of companies in the manufacturing industry. Furthermore, this study demonstrates the main motivations, strategies and barriers for these companies to internationalize.

Evaluating management practices in horizontal cooperation SMEs networks: the Ecuadorian context

Small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play an important role in the economic growth of a country and of a sector. They seek to be incorporated into permanent productivity and competitiveness dynamics through a cooperation strategy. This article evaluated the application of management practices to horizontal SMEs networks of the dairy sector in Ecuador by following the constructivist methodology. The literature review and exploratory research indicated an understanding of cooperative work in the networks or Milk Collection Centers (MCCs) and identified the need to evaluate performance when applying management practices as an unavoidable element to enhance their operation and development. The construction phase took as reference a model for the evaluation of management practices in cooperation networks and contextualized it to the Ecuadorian environment. In the evaluation phase, three networks were evaluated, from which results and conclusions were obtained. The developed model identified six criteria with which the evaluations of MCCs were made, whose analysis allowed their performance level to be quantified and a proposal of some specific improvement opportunities for this sector and a group of SMEs.

RESUMOO presente artigo teve como objetivo geral investigar a percepção dos prestadores de serviços imobiliários do município de Garibaldi, RS quanto à formação de redes de cooperação. Os fatores teóricos que fazem com que as organizações se unam em forma de redes são as constantes mudanças ocorridas no cenário competitivo em que estão inseridas, que causam ameaças, mas também estimulam novos arranjos entre empresas. Através das redes de cooperação, as empresas poderiam aumentar seu desempenho, oferecer soluções coletivas e destacar-se dos concorrentes. Na pesquisa qualitativa realizada através de entrevista semiestruturada, foi possível confirmar a existência de uma rede de cooperação atuante no município, formalmente constituída, com a cultura do compartilhamento de informações e experiências, porém com autonomia de execução entre os membros. As entrevistas foram conduzidas no período de dois meses, onde foram entrevistados cinco prestadores de serviços imobiliários, buscando-se mensurar a aderência dos fatores ao referencial bibliográfico estudado com as respostas vivenciadas pelos atores que integram a rede de cooperação constituída. A partir do comparativo de respostas e bibliografia entendeu-se a veracidade da rede de cooperação como instrumento de competitividade e de transferência de conhecimentos e que a partir disso as organizações podem preservar seu espaço no mercado.Palavras-chave: Competitividade. Redes de cooperação. Coopetição. INTRODUÇÃOA dinâmica competitiva nas últimas décadas trouxe mudanças significativas nas relações entre as empresas, exigindo interdependência crescente. Os níveis de competitividade e a capacidade de prosperar, exigem adaptações que extrapolam as fronteiras das competências internas e passam a explorar também novos modelos de relações desenvolvidas externamente entre clientes, fornecedores, parceiros, distribuidores e até mesmo, concorrentes.A reorganização das cadeias produtivas e a construção de alianças entre empresas são a resposta à demanda por melhor alocação de recursos, maior flexibilidade e agilidade necessárias para atingir novos patamares da competitividade. Estes laços implicam no compartilhamento de competências, de infraestrutura comum e de investimentos em inovação (KLOTZLE, 2002).Uma das estratégias para elevar o desempenho das empresas e torna-las competitivas é a rede de cooperação, que proporciona vantagens que não seriam alcançadas facilmente de forma isolada. As redes de cooperação, segundo Balestrin e Verschoore (2008), são formações por grupos de empresas que estão relacionadas entre si, com objetivos comuns, porém sem prazo de existência pré-determinado, mantendo assim, a individualidade e dividindo ganhos alcançados coletivamente.Estes vínculos de relacionamentos entre as empresas têm evoluído no entendimento de criar maior proximidade por meio de mecanismos de cooperação, transferência de conhecimentos e complementariedade.Entretanto, diversos empecilhos surgem e evitam muitas vezes o estabelecimento de tais vínculos.
