Chemical composition and larvicidal activity of Rollinia leptopetala (Annonaceae)

Show more

“…A previous phytochemical investigation of Rollinia species revealed the presence of acetogenins, steroids, lignans, essential oil, and alkaloids. [9] From dried fruits of this species, a modified fatty acid, sylvaticin, a tetrahydroxy annonaceous acetogenin with nonadjacent tetrahydrofuran rings, was isolated. This compound presented cytotoxicity against human tumor cells, as well as insect control properties.…”

“…Oxoaporphines and aporphines have been reported to have larvicidal activity against A. aegypti larvae. For example, liriodenine and (+)-dicentrine have been reported as larvicidal secondary metabolites with LD 50 at 3.6 and 30.2 ppm after 24 hours [2021]. Although the larvae belong to a different genus, they are from the same family, and the mode of action of these alkaloids could be the same.…”

“…The sesquiterpenes represent the majority of the compounds identified in different organs of C. calophyllum (Table 1), as observed in other species of the Annonaceae family. FEITOSA et al (2009) characterized the essential oil present in the branches of Rollinia leptopetala, lacking monoterpenes, whereas sesquiterpenes, particularly oxygenated sesquiterpenes, were abundantly present. PONTES et al (2007) evaluated the acaricidal activity of the essential oil obtained from the leaves of Xylopia sericea; ~95% of the oil comprised of a complex mixture of sesquiterpenes.…”
