Atmospheric corrosion performance of carbon steel, galvanized steel, aluminum and copper in the North Brazilian coast

Show more

“…The importance of this parameter is related not only to its concentration, but also its form and chemical composition. Solid particles in the form of dust and soot are responsible for increased atmospheric corrosivity due to their hygroscopic properties . The results obtained were 178.91 ± 0.89, 0.39 ± 0.05 and 0.16 ± 0.03 g/m 2 /day, for Quintero, Curauma and Valparaíso, respectively.…”

“…Different countries have independently prepared their corrosivity maps confined to the area of their interest. Various countries like China, [3] Switzerland, [4] Slovakia, [5] Turkey, [6] Korea, [7] Brazil, [8] Abu Dhabi, [9] and Spain [10] have already developed their corrosion maps. The current study has developed the first-ever corrosion map for Karachi harbor city, which may be helpful for the researchers and engineers to understand and select methods for general corrosion protection of steel structures like ships, bridges, buildings, and steel truces used in roofing and automobiles.…”

“…It is used as a reference by engineering personnel in the management, planning, designing, and maintenance stages to enhance public engineering structural safety. [1] The corrosion maps of regions such as China, [3] Switzerland, [4] Slovakia, [5] Istanbul, [6] Korea, [7] Brazil, [8] Abu Dhabi, [9] and Spain [10] have been successfully drafted for the assessment of the atmospheric corrosion risks. MICAT is a well-known corrosion mapping project for Ibero-America.…”

“…Atmospheric corrosivity map provides an important method for atmospheric corrosion risk assessment and prediction because it can give an intuitive and visual result of atmospheric corrosion grades and corrosion risks in different regions, and provide guidance for corrosion protection of materials. The atmospheric corrosion maps of countries and regions such as Switzerland, Slovakia, Istanbul, Korea, Brazil, Abu Dhabi, and Spain have been successively drawn for the assessment of their atmospheric corrosion risks.…”
