Sulfite induced autoxidation of Cu(II)/tetra/ penta and hexaglycine complexes: spectrophotometric and rotating-ring-disk glassy carbon electrode studies and analytical potentialities

Voltamogramas, obtido… Show more

“…4,5,10,11,14 The S(IV) induced autoxidation of Ni(II) and Co(II) tetraglycine complexes is very fast. 17,20 On the other hand, Cu(II) tetraglycine complexes react slowly but traces (10 -6 mol L -1 ) of Ni(II) and Co(II) ions accelerate the oxidation.…”

“…However, our studies [12][13][14] showed that in fact, this reaction is very slow in the presence of S(IV). The Cu III G 4 formation is efficient and fast only in the presence of S(IV) and trace concentrations of nickel(II) ion, present as impurity in the copper (II) salts (CuClO 4 , Sigma) reagents.…”

“…The intensity of DNA damage in the presence of the different Cu(II) complexes and for S(IV) (10-300 µmol L Figure 1) and previous work. 12,16,19,21,34 Due to the synergistic effect of Ni(II) on the oxidation of Cu II G 4 in the presence of S(IV) and dissolved oxygen, 12,16,17,21 some experiments were carried out to evaluate the DNA strand breakage as shown in Figure 3. …”

“…Our previous studies with tetraglycine as a ligand showed that the Cu(III)/G 4 formation is a linear function with initial sulfite concentration and can be monitored amperometric 22 and spectrophotometically 1,8,23 at 365 nm. For analytical purposes S(IV) could be determined in wine and juices in the range of (0.5-10) × 10 -5 mol L -1 and detection limit 6.0 × 10 -7 mol L -1 .…”
