Irrigated farming enables producing papaya in Iaçu, located in the semiarid region of Bahia. However, water must be used efficiently, as the local availability of irrigation water resources is restricted. This study was conducted with the objective of defining the irrigation depth that provides the best agronomic performance of the Tainung No. 1 papaya cultivar, in a sandy loam soil of Iaçu, in the semiarid of Bahia, under the irrigation management conditions adopted by the producer. The experimental design used was of randomized blocks with four replicates. The experimental plot consisted of a row of plants, containing two border plants and twelve useful plants. Treatments corresponded to the total water depth of 1.103; 1.702; 2226; 2.751; 3.349 mm. Studied variables were height, leaf area, fruit number and yield, water use efficiency, fruit weight, fruit diameter and length, pulp width, pulp water content, pH, soluble solids and titratable acidity. Growth and production of the papaya tree responded positively to the applied water depths, but there was no interference in fruit quality. The yield showed linear adjustment, with a calculated maximum at 123.845 t ha-1 obtained for 3.349 mm. With the increasing water depth applied, there was a reduction in water use efficiency due to percolation water loss.

-The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of irrigation with oilfield produced water on the concentration of some soil nutrients, as well as on the performance and concentration of nutrients in the roots and on aerial parts of the ornamental sunflower 'Sunbright' (Helianthus annuus), and to define the operating costs for the production of floral stems under an irrigated system. 'Sunbright' sunflower plants were cultivated in a Typic Quartzipsamment in the state of Ceará, Brazil, and subjected to drip irrigation treatments with oilfield produced water treated by filtration (PWF), or by reverse osmosis (PWO), besides a control treatment with groundwater (GW) from the Açu aquifer. The study was carried out for three successive production cycles. Irrigation with PWF modifies the concentration of exchangeable salts in the soil, increasing Na + in the shallow layers, affecting the vegetative growth and the nutrient accumulation in the roots and shoots, in such a way that brackish water may impact operating costs and revenues in the production of floral stems. PWO has a minor effect on soil nutrients and it is not able to modify the agronomic performance of the ornamental sunflowers, in comparison with irrigation with GW. The cost-benefit ratio was positive with all types of water in the following order: GW> PWF> PWO.Index terms: Helianthus annuus, cut flower, irrigation, resource use efficiency, wastewater reuse. Produção de girassol ornamental irrigado com água produzida de petróleo na região do Semiárido brasileiroResumo -O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar os efeitos da irrigação com água produzida de campos de petróleo sobre a concentração de alguns nutrientes do solo, assim como sobre o desempenho e a concentração de nutrientes nas raízes e nas partes aéreas do girassol (Helianthus annuus) ornamental 'Sunbright', e definir os custos operacionais para a produção de hastes florais em um sistema irrigado. As plantas de girassol 'Sunbright' foram cultivadas em um Neossolo Quartzarênico no Estado do Ceará, e submetidas a tratamentos de irrigação por gotejamento, com água produzida de petróleo tratada por filtração (PWF) e por osmose inversa (PWO), além de um tratamento-controle com água subterrânea (GW) do aquífero Açu. O estudo foi realizado por três ciclos de produção sucessivos. A irrigação com PWF modifica a concentração de sais trocáveis no solo, ao aumentar o Na + nas camadas superficiais, o que afeta o crescimento vegetativo e o acúmulo de nutrientes nas raízes e nas partes aéreas das plantas, de modo que a água salobra pode impactar os custos operacionais e as receitas na produção de hastes florais. PWO tem um efeito menor em nutrientes do solo e não é capaz de modificar o desempenho agronômico dos girassóis ornamentais, em comparação à irrigação com GW. A relação custo-benefício foi positiva com todos os tipos de água, na seguinte ordem: GW> PWF> PWO.Termos para indexação: Helianthus annuus, flor de corte, irrigação, uso eficiente de recurso, reuso de água residuária.

RESUMO A segurança hídrica envolve o uso sustentável e a proteção dos sistemas hídricos, de modo a se dispor de água em quantidade e qualidade adequadas à saúde, aos meios de subsistência, aos ecossistemas e à produção. No que se refere à gestão da quantidade de água, houve muitos avanços desde a aprovação da Política Nacional de Recursos Hídricos em 1997. As competências e atribuições de cada ente do sistema estão definidas na legislação pertinente. No que se refere à gestão da qualidade de água, no entanto, há um grande número de normativos aplicáveis e de instituições competentes para atuarem na fiscalização e na regulação da matéria. Em função dessa gama de informações, configura-se a necessidade de sistematização e síntese do arcabouço legal/institucional. Para essa finalidade, este trabalho propõe associar a metodologia da matriz de sistematização institucional aos instrumentos de monitoramento ambiental já praticados no Ceará. Espera-se que essa associação propicie visualizar as fontes potencialmente poluidoras, os normativos pertinentes e as instituições competentes. A metodologia foi aplicada ao reservatório Castanhão, no estado do Ceará. Identificou-se que 50% das fontes poluidoras são geradas por entidades públicas (Companhia de Água e Esgoto do Ceará - CAGECE; Serviço Autônomo de Água e Esgoto - SAAE; ou prefeituras municipais). As fontes particulares (pessoas físicas ou jurídicas) contribuem com os outros 50%. Isso significa que ações de controle sobre entidades públicas poderiam resolver em grande parte a poluição da bacia hidrográfica. As agências reguladoras e os órgãos ambientais independentes podem contribuir muito para a redução das fontes de poluição.
