Abstract: E HÁ UM objetivo que Losurdo persegue de modo coerente ao longo desta Contra-história do liberalismo é o de preferir o exame das políticas liberais "em sua concretização" ao engessamento em definições genéricas pelas quais o termo "liberalismo" se toma como uniforme e abstrata doutrina. A sua regra de ouro é historicizar sempre, isto é, analisar os papéis efetivos que os diversos grupos políticos exerceram em nome de idéias e ideais liberais.O método é fecundo, daí a riqueza dos resultados.
