Abstract: ESTUDOS AVANÇADOS 15 (41), 2001193 S SERES HUMANOS não são os únicos a criar novos ambientes, modificando o mundo em que habitam. Muito antes do aparecimento das suas primitivas organizações na superfície da Terra, outros seres já viviam em grandes sociedades, e muitos deles até hoje constróem abrigos para as suas populações. Embora os seus organismos sejam diferentes e diversas as escalas das suas construções, muitos dos desafios por eles enfrentados são semelhantes aos nossos.
