Bioprótese valvar de pericárdio bovino St Jude Medical-Biocor: sobrevida tardia

Abstract: Methods: From 1992 to 2000, 304 patients were discharged from hospital after bioprosthesis implantation. Ages ranged from 15 to 83 years (mean: 60.6 ± ± ± ± ± 14.3 years) and 50.3% were male. Patient deaths and events related to bioprosthesis (infection, thromboembolism and structural failure) were considered for estimation of cumulative probability of survival and event-free survival. Results: Total follow-up was 931.0 patients-year. During follow-up there were 28 (9.2%) deaths. Causes were bioprosthesis failu… Show more

“…Regarding the curve without thromboembolism and endocarditis in eight years, we found similar results to these authors' studies [5,[20][21]. Analyzing the postoperative PG LV/Ao, we found no differences when compared to the results of Bottio et al [20].…”

“…But when comparing our results with the results of valve replacement, we note similarities. Hospital mortality in some studies ranged from 3.8% to 15% [5,[12][13][15][16][17][18][19]21,22]. The mean of these results was no different from what we found in our study, which was a mortality rate of 6.2%.…”

“…In patients submitted to valve replacement in isolation, including cases of reoperation, the mortality was only 2.6%. These results are comparable to the results of the study by Pomerantzeff et al [12], in which the mortality rate was 4.7 and 12.8% for aortic and mitral-aortic patients with Fisics-Incor prostheses, or the study by Bacco et al [13], in which the immediate overall mortality was 11%, after aortic valve replacement using St Jude MedicalBiocor prostheses. In a metanalysis of publications on patients submitted to aortic valve replacement with homografts, Takkenberg et al [4,5] reported immediate mortality rates that ranged from 2% to 19%.…”
