These may be related to the patient's quality of life, the use of cardiopulmonary bypass, as well as a decline in postoperative respiratory muscle strength, contributing to the emergence of restrictive respiratory disorders. Objective: Assess pulmonary complications in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft surgery and identify their association with risk factors. Methods: A retrospective study with non-probability convenience sampling of 168 patients at the Hospital Calles ACN, Lira JLF, Granja KSB, Medeiro JD, Farias AR, Cavalcanti RC. 662 failure (1.2%); and bronchopneumonia (0.6%). Female patients and those aged 70 years or older experienced more pulmonary complications after surgery. Conclusion: Women and patients older than 70 years had the most severe postoperative pulmonary complications, the most common being pleural effusion and atelectasis.

Background-The beginnings of coronary artery bypass graft in Latin America could be set in the year 1971. Since then, improvements in technique and greater experience have resulted in a rapid increase in the rate of interventions performed in the region. Methods and Results-Searches through PubMed and Literatura Latinoamericana y del Caribe en Ciencias de la Salud, as well as personal communications from specialists from Latin America, have been the source of information. Articles were selected by their content related to the theme, and the authors' nationality and information is mainly from Latin America. Demographic information of the population of Latin America denotes higher age averages, and this implies an increase in the severity of comorbidities in patients who undergo surgery. Longer life expectancy and improvements in medical therapy have implied that patients survive a first intervention beyond the expected time a bypass persists patent. Wall vessel properties of arterial conduits, plus a better anastomotic technique, seem to be the current solution to worsening in the coronary health of patients who undergo revascularization surgery in Latin America. Conclusions-Despite scarce economic investment in medical sciences, many academic groups contribute to the exploration of therapeutic pharmacological combinations and inclusively apply genetic strategies.

Opção técnica para pinçamento coronariano temporário em cirurgia de revascularização do miocárdio sem circulação extracorpórea Technical option for temporary coronary clamping in off pump coronary surgery STUDY POPULATION CHARACTERISTICS Male patient, 58 years old, born in Duque de Caxias, RJ, with hypertension and type II diabetes for 5 years under clinical control, and with recent onset of angina symptoms. Risk stratification performed for coronary artery disease through exercise stress-testing, which proved to be positive for ischemia with low workload.Cinecoronarioangiography was performed. It showed severe lesions in the proximal and middle third of the anterior interventricular branch with a large diagonal branch among the lesions and an obstructed circumflex branch in its middle third without filling by collateral branches. Ventriculography showed moderate anteroapical hypokinesia with mild global dysfunction.Coronary artery bypass grafting was the surgery of choice due to due to the severity and complexity of coronary artery disease in diabetic patients with left ventricular dysfunction.During the performance of preoperative tests, It was verified the presence of changes in serum creatinine (1.7 mg/dL), although the patient maintains good urine output. Transthoracic echocardiography confirmed mild left ventricular dysfunction (LVEF: 0.5).Revascularization of both anterior interventricular branch and diagonal branch was scheduled in the surgical orders, without the use of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) in order to reduce the risk of acute renal failure [1], other morbidities and mortality [2]. We have also chosen to use the double-graft skeletonized internal thoracic artery, preferring a total arterial surgery, due to its best long-term results and low morbidity [3][4][5][6].SURGICAL TECHNIQUE Median transsternal thoracotomy, followed by na inverted-T pericardiotomy and dissection of both internal thoracic arteries in a stellectomized fashion using a lowvoltage electrode knife, smooth handling with withdrawing using a fine vascular clamp and small titanium Ligaclip in all branches and opening of both pleurae.The study was carried out at
