The objective of this article is to analyze social innovation initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable consumption in the Brazilian Semi-arid region, based on the model proposed by Jaeger-Erben et al., 2015. For that, a qualitative and descriptive case study was carried out, using bibliographical and documentary research as data collection. The results point to a development of social innovations and sustainable consumption and it is perceived that these practices are developed as strategies of coexistence with the local challenges and can be framed in the forms of organization pointed out in the model studied. Therefore, the initiatives analyzed demonstrate that there are possibilities to promote changes in social practices related to consumption that are associated with drought coexistence and optimization of local potentialities.
