Espécies vegetais dominantes do arquipélago de Fernando de Noronha: grupos ecológicos e repartição espacial

Abstract: São relacionadas as 60 principais espécies vegetais dominantes do Arquipélago de Fernando de Noronha, no Nordeste brasileiro: 33 herbáceas, 12 lenhosas baixas (< 2 metros) e 15 lenhosas altas (> 2 metros). Show more

“…The climate is tropical and has two distinct seasons: a rainy season, from January to August and a dry season for the remainder of the year. The archipelago is influenced by the intense and constant alisios winds, blowing from east to southeast (Batistella, 1996). The archipelago contains cats, rats and the large lizard (Tupinambis merianae) that are known to predate seabirds (Efe, 2008).…”

“…Research projects focusing on island vegetations have been relatively rare in Brazil, whether coastal (e.g., Barros et al 1991;Menezes-Silva 1998;Oliveira 2002;Kemenes 2003;Bovini et al 2013) or oceanic (e.g., Batistella 1996;Alves 1998Alves , 2006Gasparini 2004) -in spite of the fact that the identification and description of island plant communities are of fundamental importance to evaluations of their conservation statuses. The low resilience (and consequent fragility) of these environments demands special consideration and specific management policies to guarantee their conservation.…”

“…A total of of 43 P. vivipara individuals (5 males and 38 females, 9.0–42.9 mm SL) were collected using hand nets and plastic bags. The site of species occurrence ( 03°51'57.80"S, 32°25'32.79"W ) is the only oceanic mangrove in the South Atlantic ( Serafini et al 2010 ), and is comprised of a single mangrove tree species, Laguncularia racemosa (L.) Gaertn ( Batistella 1996 ) (Fig. 2 ) covering an area ca.…”
