Abstract: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the psychometric properties in the Brazilian version of the Human Activity Profile (HAP), an instrument for the assessment of daily functions and level of physical activity. The HAP was translated into Portuguese following the recommended methodology and applied to 230 community-dwelling elderly (66.32 +/- 8.5 years) from the city of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. “…Habitual Walking Speed (HWS) and Fast Walking Speed (FWS) were measured with the Multisprint  kit for computerized evaluation of physical performance, which consists of reflectors and photoelectric cells that are connected to a computer running Multisprint  software 8,17 . LPA was obtained via self-reported performance on the Human Activity Profile (HAP) questionnaire, which is a valid, reliable instrument that has been translated and culturally adapted for the Brazilian population 18 and allows the classification of subjects as either active, moderately active or inactive. Measurements of weight and height for Body Mass Index (BMI) calculation were carried out with a calibrated scale, and CC was obtained with a tape measure 19,20 .…”

“…The participants were stratified into three groups based upon their physical activity levels, which were determined by the self-reported activity scores on the Brazilian version of the Human Activity Profile (HAP), which is considered a valid and reliable tool 18 . The participants' physical activity levels were classified according to their adjusted activity scores (AAS) either as impaired (<53), moderately active (53-74) or active (>74) 19 .…”
