The production and quality of roses are influenced by fertilization management. The aim of this experiment was to evaluate the effects of doses of iron (Fe) in the production of potted rose bushes ( Rosa hybrida ). Treatments were based on five doses of Fe (0, 1, 3, 5 and 15mg kg-1) applied on the substrate, in a randomized block design with four replications. Seedlings presented two pairs of leaves and were individually transplanted into plastic pots (0.8dm3) containing commercial substrate. Each experimental plot consisted of a vase with a plant with two flower stalks. The following parameters were evaluated: number of leaves and flowers per flower stalk; dry matter production of roots, leaves and flowers; plant height and diameter and floral longevity. In addition, foliar levels of total chlorophyll and Fe were determined. Fertilization with Fe increases the production and quality of flowers of the rosebush cv. 'Shiny Terrazza' (r). Dose of Fe to be added to the substrate used in this study for maximum economic efficiency for this cultivar is 3.6mg kg-1.

Além disso, o manejo correto da irrigação está relacionado à utilização de práticas agrícolas adequadas, as quais se justificam com a redução de insumos como água, energia de bombeamento e fertilizantes. Assim, este trabalho objetivou avaliar o efeito de diferentes potenciais de água no solo sobre o rendimento e qualidade biométrica de hastes de rosas. O experimento foi realizado em casa de vegetação localizada na EPAMIG, em São João Del Rei - MG. Foi utilizado um delineamento em blocos casualizados, envolvendo seis potenciais de água no solo (-15, -30, -45, -60, -90 e -120 kPa) com cinco repetições. Os parâmetros avaliados foram: produtividade, comprimento e diâmetro das hastes e comprimento e diâmetro do botão floral. De forma geral, o déficit hídrico de até -120 kPa não interfere nas características qualitativas das hastes florais. The present research focused on flower stems productivity and quality associated to adequate irrigation management. Moreover, the correct management of irrigation is related to the use of appropriate agricultural practices, which are justified by reducing inputs such as water, pumping energy and fertilizers. This work had the aim of assessing the effect of water deficit stress across different soil water potentials on yield and biometric quality of stems roses. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse located at EPAMIG, São João Del Rei, MG. A randomized block design involving six water potential on soil (-15, -30, -45, -60, -90 and -120 kPa) with five replications was used. Parameters assessed were: yield, length and diameter of the stems, length and diameter of the rose bud. In general, the water deficit of up to -120 kPa does not interfere with qualitative parameters of the stem buds. Higher yields are observed for more frequent irrigations, with -15 and -30 kPa. Accumulation of organic solutes and enzymatic activity in cut roses (Rosaceae) cultivated with physiological effect products in the Sub- Middle São Francisco River Valley

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the accumulation of carbohydrates, protein, and proline as well as the activity of the antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase and catalase in the Ambiance cultivar of cut rose plants grown with the application of physiological effect products in the Sub-Middle São Francisco River Valley in Brazil. The experiment was performed under a mesh screen with 50% shading. The experimental design used randomized blocks with four repetitions and six treatments: T1) control (water); T2) boscalid; T3) pyraclostrobin; T4) boscalid + pyraclostrobin (T2 + T3); T5) fluxapyroxad + pyraclostrobin; T6) plant growth regulators 4-(indol-3-yl) butyric acid (IBA) + gibberellic acid (GA3) + kinetin; these treatments were applied every 15 days throughout the crop cycle. To determine the accumulation of solutes and enzymatic activity, 8 leaves was collected every 48 h. Leaves were immediately immersed in liquid nitrogen and frozen until further analysis in the laboratory. Results showed that the product combinations boscalid + pyraclostrobin and fluxapyroxad + pyraclostrobin as well as the plant growth regulators were the treatments with the most consistent responses throughout the evaluated cycle, providing a greater accumulation of solutes in rose leaves, as an osmotic adjustment strategy against stress from high temperatures, particularly when proline accumulation is observed. With regard to enzymatic activity, plant regulators showed more consistent results when compared with other treatments, increasing both superoxide dismutase and catalase activity. The marked accumulation of organic solutes and the high enzymatic activity, particularly of catalase, indicated that rose plants use such mechanisms as a defense against the region’s high temperatures.
