Show more

“…As observed by Xia et al (2014) in China, with the report of three or even four insecticide applications per week against P. xylostella, similar practices have been described in some Brazilian Brassica plantations of the Federal District and in Pernambuco State AMARAL, 2002). Several areas of production have been also abandoned due to the control failure and inefficiency of insecticides leading farmers to use (without success) up to 4 applications per week (OLIVEIRA et al, 2011;LIMA NETO et al, 2016).…”

“…The flubendiamide treatment isolated throughout the experiment was highlighted in the control of A. gemmatalis in comparison to the chlorantraniliprole and the combination between both ( Table 3). The chemical management for the adequate control of insects should include the technique of rotation of insecticides with different modes of action to avoid the emergence of resistant populations and to increase the useful life of the product (Castelo-Branco & Amaral, 2002;Roditakis et al, 2015;Gonçalves et al, 2016). It should be noted that in the southern region of Rio Grande do Sul, the active chlorantraniliprole is used in the crops such as rice, soybean and corn to the control of Spodoptera frugiperda (Smith, 1797) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), A. gemmatalis, C. includens, H. armigera and Helicoverpa zea (Boddie, 1850) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) (Agrofit, 2018).…”

“…The diamondback moth Plutella xylostella L. (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae) is a cosmopolitan pest which causes severe damage to Brassica crops, e.g. in Brazil (França and Medeiros 1998;Castelo Branco and Amaral 2002), and in other countries (Talekar and Shelton 1993;Godin and Boivin 1998). The total annual expenses of worldwide management of P. xylostella has been estimated at approximately $4 billion (Zalucki et al 2012).…”
