“…In southern Brazil, they are active during the springtime, from October through November. A cluster of five males of Lanthanomelissa betinae (Urban, 1995) was observed inside a flower of Petunia integrifolia in Terra de Areia, Rio Grande do Sul (29°35'S /50°04'W). The bees were set in the bottom of the corolla arranged in a series one behind the other, forming a rough circle.…”

“…Lanthanella was proposed as subgenus of Lanthanomelissa by Michener and Moure (1957) as monotypic for L. (L.) goeldiana , and posteriorly Moure (1992) surged the group to genus level. Urban (1995) described Lanthanella luciane Urban 1995, and Roig-Alsina (1999) transferred L. goeldiana and L. luciane to Chalepogenus , also describing a new species to this group, which he named Chalepogenus neffi . These three species were proposed by Roig-Alsina (1999) as goeldianus species group and the present results support the significance of this clade as the distinct genus Lanthanella therefore composed by Lanthanella goeldiana (Friese, 1899), Lanthanella luciane Urban, 1995, and Lanthanella neffi n. comb.…”
