“…4), and most of these specimens were attached on the surface of sea stars. This fact suggests that associations with other macroinvertebrates may benefit the isopods by providing food and shelter (see Harty 1979;Pires 1995;Doti et al 2008).…”

“…The sandy infra-littoral bottoms are poorly studied in South America, as well as in South Africa and Australia. Only sandy beaches (Siewing 1953;Albuquerque 1978;Silva et al 1991Silva et al , 1997Medeiros 1992;Santos 1994;Absalão and Esteves 1997) and the intertidal interstitial (Moreira and Pires 1977;Renaud-Mornant 1979;Pires 1980Pires , 1981Pires , 1982Pires , 19851995;Pires Vanin 1998;Corbisier 1993;Corbisier et al 1997;Wandeness et al 1997;Abreu 1998) have been studied in a few areas in southern Journal of Natural History 1827 South America, as well as in South Africa (McLachlan 1977;McLachlan et al 1977;McLachlan and Erasmus 1981) and in Australia (Schotte et al 1995 onwards;Wilson et al 2004). Therefore, it is not known whether the genus Janinella occurs in these parts of the world.…”
