A model for selecting project team members using multicriteria group decision making

Abstract: Selecting a project team is a complex multi-criteria decision-making problem. For this reason, one appropriate way to tackle such problems involves the use of multi-criteria decision aid methods. However, most of the decisions taken regarding the selection of project teams are made by a group of people. It is this which changes the focus of the problem by moving from one decision-maker (DM) to a group of DMs. Analysis needs to be extended in order to consider the preference structure of each individual group m… Show more

“…Two streams of thought serve as the foundations: utility theory and the inductive use of probability theory" ( [20] p. 200). MCDA facilitates decision making (such as evaluation, prioritization, and selection) in the presence of many conflicting choices and criteria or indicators [21][22][23]. It can rank decisions, distinguish satisfactory decision options from unacceptable possibilities, and identify the single most preferred decision [24].…”

“…2 | MULTI-CRITERIA DECISION ANALYSIS MCDA assists users in making informed decisions such as the evaluation, prioritization and selection of alternative solutions to a problem in the presence of conflicting criteria (Alencar & Almeida, 2010;Jeon, Amekudzi, & Guensler, 2010;Köksalan, Wallenius, & Zionts, 2011). It comprises a class of techniques that are capable of combining metrics to evaluate complex issues to generate an overall score for rating or expressing a preference for an alternative (Chen, Kilgour, & Hipel, 2012;Figueira, Greco, & Ehrgott, 2005).…”
