“…Of the studies that were conducted across multiple countries, Hengartner et al (2012) demonstrated that HCPs including psychiatrists, psychologists, professional attendants and social workers were more likely to socially distance from people with schizophrenia if they were based in Switzerland compared to those originating from Brazil. Meanwhile, it was found that Brazilian HCPs had more reluctance in acknowledging the side effects of psychopharmacological treatments received by patients with schizophrenia (Hengartner et al, 2012). These differences may have occurred due to the possible differences in socio-cultural background and medication availabilities between the two countries.…”
