PPM1B and P-IKKβ expression levels correlated inversely with rat gastrocnemius atrophy after denervation

Abstract: Activated inhibitor of nuclear factor-κB kinase β (IKKβ) is necessary and sufficient for denervated skeletal muscle atrophy. Although several studies have shown that Mg2+/Mn2+-dependent protein phosphatase 1B (PPM1B) inactivated IKKβ, few studies have investigated the role of PPM1B in denervated skeletal muscle. In this study, we aim to explore the expression and significance of PPM1B and phosphorylated IKKβ (P-IKKβ) during atrophy of the denervated gastrocnemius. Thirty young adult female Wistar rats were sub… Show more

“…The present study shows that p-IKKb and NF-jB p65 activity are higher in the PVN of salt-induced hypertensive rats. It is consisted of studies from others and our previous work [7,30,31]. The maturation of IL-1b is dependent on NLRP3 inflammasome assembling and the following activation [9,32,33].…”

“…Protein phosphatase 1B (PPM1B) is a member of PPM superfamily that are Mg 2+ /Mn 2+ ‐dependent monomeric phosphatases 9 . It has been demonstrated to be involved in several signalling pathways depending on the cellular context, such as MAPK signalling, 10 AMPK signalling, 11 TNF signalling, 12,13 gene transcription 14 and cell cycle 15 . However, its physiological functions and the biological relevance in the human diseases are still unclear.…”
