Fisionomia e estrutura de um remanescente de floresta estacional semidecidual de terras baixas no nordeste do Brasil

Abstract: -(Physiognomy and structure of a seasonal semidecidual lowland forest fragment in Northeastern Brazil). A quantitative survey was carried out in a seasonal lowland forest at "Estação Ecológica do Tapacurá" in the municipality of São Lourenço da Mata, Pernambuco. The aim of this study was to identify the relationship between the study area and other forests in the region. In the study area (8º03'04' '-8º03'53''S and 35º09'55''-35º10'48''W), altitudes range from 100 to 140 m average annual rainfall is 1,300 mm. … Show more

“…The climate of this area is tropical and humid, with a mild dry season from September to February. The native vegetation, which surrounds the dam of the Tapacurá River (394 ha), is typical of the Atlantic Forest (Andrade and Rodal 2004). The landscape mosaic around this seasonal semi-deciduous forest fragment is composed basically by subsistence farming and sugar cane monoculture.…”

“…In the Humid Group, knowledge of the flora indicates that the seasonal forests are a subset of the moister forests and reflect a gradient of available moisture (Barbosa, 1996;Andrade and Rodal 2004;Rodal et al, 2005) with an elevated number of shared taxa. In the Dry Group, however, it is important to note that while seasonal forests have genera in common with the caatinga, the floristic connection between the two are not clear.…”

“…O autor assinala que naquelas florestas mais úmidas e próximas à costa atlântica a flora parece ser um prolongamento da floresta ombrófila costeira enquanto em áreas mais interioranas e mais secas a flora é diversa, o que é confirmado por diferentes autores que estudaram o componente arbóreo na região (Tavares et al 2000, Rodal & Nascimento 2002, Andrade & Rodal 2004, Ferraz et al 2004.…”
