Weed Interference on Productivity of Bell Pepper Crops

Abstract: The objective of this work was to determine the interference periods of weeds of the bell pepper cultivar ‘Dahra’. Two experiments were conducted during the years 2014/15 (harvest with lower rainfall) and 2015/16 (harvest with higher rainfall). The treatments consisted of 11 growing periods of cohabitation and weed control with ‘Dahra’ bell peppers: 14, 28, 42, 56, 70, 84, 98, 112, 126, 140 and 154 days after transplanting (DAT). For the determination of the interference periods, the productivity data were ana… Show more

“…Agrar., Recife, v.17, n.4, e2886, 2022 8/10 space, light, and resources in general, especially in the initial periods of coexistence, which favored its establishment, thus becoming the main species competing with the bean plant. Authors such as Uljol et al (2018) and Amaral et al (2019) have also recorded high RI values of Nicandra physaloides at increasing coexistence periods in bell bell pepper and sugarcane, respectively, which highlights the great infesting capacity of the species in distinct agroecosystems.…”

“…In the TPM experiment, the greatest highlight in relation to the number of individuals was for Nicandra physaloides, a species that found the right environment to establish itself as a result of the greater space and light, accelerating its development, although it is a species with slower germination flow and longer cycle compared to other species, such as Eleusine indica and Digitaria nuda (Uljol et al, 2018).…”

“…As espécies de plantas daninhas competem com a cultura de interesse por recursos essenciais ao desenvolvimento das plantas, como nutrientes, espaço e luminosidade. Na ausência de controle da comunidade infestante, o comprometimento do potencial produtivo de hortaliças como o quiabeiro atinge em cerca de 85% (Fukushi et al, 2011;Uljol et al, 2018).…”
