Photosynthetic characteristics of hybrid and conventional rice plants as a function of plant competition

Abstract: -The objective of this work was to evaluate the characteristics related to the photosynthetic ability of hybrid and inbred rice varieties, as a way to assess which of the two presented higher potential to stand out under conditions of competition. The trial was set in a greenhouse in completely randomized block design and 2 x 6 factorial scheme with four replications. Factor A consisted of rice varieties (hybrid or inbred) and factor B by competition levels. Treatments consisted in maintaining one plant of eit… Show more

“…A análise de crescimento é uma técnica que detalha a alocação e partição de fotossintatos, em função da idade da planta (Falqueto et al 2009, Concenço et al 2011, Alvarez et al 2012 das extremidades das linhas, foram consideradas bordadura. A dessecação das plantas, para formação de cobertura do solo, foi realizada 15 dias antes da semeadura (DAS) do milho, na dose de 6,0 L ha -1 de glyphosate.…”

“…Gas exchange measures were carried out using a LI-6400 (Licor Inc. Lincoln, NE) portable photosynthesis open system, which measures CO 2 and water stem concentrations by infrared radiation, following the methodology proposed by Machado and Lagôa (1994) and Concenço et al (2011). Since gas exchange assessment is better during the greatest photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD) and before the air temperature reaches the limit values for plants with the C3 photosynthetic mechanism (FEISTLER; HABERMANN, 2012;ALVAREZ et al, 2015), plants were evaluated between 9 am and 11 am.…”

“…In addition, the growth analysis describes the morphological and physiological changes in a plant as a function of time and also evaluates the dry matter accumulation (Falqueto et al, 2009;Concenço et al, 2011). It contains basic information of the crop production and can be performed without the need for sophisticated equipment (Falqueto et al, 2009).…”
