Morfologia das células intersticiais de ovários policísticos de ratas: um estudo experimental

Abstract: The interstitial cells of the rat polycystic ovary probably originate from ovarian cysts due to the degeneration of granulosa cells and differentiation of the internal theca cells. The elevations of serum testosterone and estradiol were probably due to the significant increase in cell activity and in the area occupied by interstitial cells.

“…Mahamed et al (2011) quantified the interstitial area in androgenized rat models and reported an increase in the interstitial cell population. The same increase in those cells was found in another polycystic ovary rat model induced by continuous light exposure (Lombardi et al, 2012). Moreover, metformin treatment in an androgenized rat model reduced the ovarian interstitial area and induced ovulation, as evidenced by the presence of corpora lutea, indicating that interstitial cell hyperplasia might be associated with anovulation (Mahamed et al, 2011).…”

“…The criteria for follicle counting were as defined by Maciel et al, 2004. To quantify the ovarian theca-interstitial area, we first measured the total cross-sectional area at 50Â magnification and then the interstitial area at 100Â magnification. The theca-interstitial area-to-total cross-section area ratio was calculated on each slide using the formula x = theca-interstitial area with a 100/total cross-section area (Lombardi et al, 2012).…”

“…Na SOP, alguns autores relatam a presença de grande número de células intersticiais no ovário. As células intersticiais são especializadas na produção de androgênios, sendo provavelmente, oriundas de células que se desprenderam da teca interna ou de folículos atrésicos, perpetuando o estado hiperandrogênico (Magoffim, 2005;Lombardi et al, 2012;Ortega et al, 2012).…”
