A idade como fator prognóstico in vitro

Abstract: though the embryonary quality is not different among women from different age groups, the number of collected oocytes, the number of transferred embryos and the pregnancy rate indicate that the women's age is an important predictive factor of success for the techniques of assisted reproduction and should be taken into consideration when this kind of treatment is proposed to women over 40.

“…Clinical data suggested that female age affected embryo quality [16] and was one of the most important predictive factors of success in IVF [17]. A recent systematic review and meta-analysis also showed female age to be a predictor of pregnancy and they also suggested that other predictive factors, especially embryo factors, should also be focused on [18].…”

“…On the other hand, previous research has shown that human age influences ZP thickness. The oocytes from older women have thicker ZPs than those from younger women [43], [44]. Thus, oocytes with thick ZPs may indicate that the oocyte is aged, which could also impair the maturation potential.…”

“…They found that the number of oocytes obtained in the G ≥ 40 group was significantly lower than in the other two groups, but the percentage of good quality embryos was not statistically different and the fertilization rate was similar in the three groups. The average number of transferred embryos and pregnancy rates were statistically lower in the G ≥ 40 group in comparison with those observed for the G ≤ 35 and 36-39 groups [15]. …”
