Efeito da suplementação nutricional com glicina e glutamina, por via oral, na cicatrização colônica em coelhos

Abstract: Oral supplementation with glycine, in the pre and post-operative periods increases the tensile strength of colonic anastomoses after partial colectomy in rabbits. The oral supplementation with glutamine did not present detectable effect on the colonic anastomoses in rabbits.

“…Previous studies have shown that glycine contributes to the inhibition of TNF‐α and IL‐1β (Hartog et al, ; Figueiredo et al, ). These inflammatory molecules are involved in the induction of apoptosis (Kim et al, ) and the activation of metalloproteinases involved in the excessive degradation of matrix components (Tsuzaki et al, ).…”

“…Glycine is an amino acid with a simple molecular structure, and it displays important biological activities by acting as a modulator of the systemic inflammatory cascade, improving the microcirculation and assisting in the inhibition of TNF‐α and IL‐1β (Hartog et al, ; Figueiredo et al, ). Many studies have proposed glycine as a useful treatment for many types of inflammatory processes (Hartog et al, ; Weeler et al, ; Carmans et al, ; Stoffels et al, ).…”
