a b s t r a c tObjective: The purpose of this experimental study was to compare the inflammatory and wound healing response of dogs submitted to colonic anastomosis with and without preoperative retrograde enema. Methods:The study included two groups of 31 female dogs (Canis familiaris). G-I (control): no preoperative bowel preparation; G-II (study): preoperative retrograde enema using a 10% glycerin solution. All the animals were submitted to laparotomy and colotomy at 20 cm from the anal verge, followed by closure with a running extramucosal single-layer suture (Prolene ® 000). The animals were then anesthetized and euthanized on the 7th (n = 10) or 21st (n = 20) postoperative day (POD) to remove the anastomosed colon segment for histological and immunohistochemical analysis evaluating the parameters: anastomotic edema, vasoproliferation, abdominal adhesions, type I and III collagen, nitric oxide and myeloperoxidase.The observed differences were analyzed with the Mann-Whitney test for nonparametric data and Student's t test for unpaired samples and parametric data.Results: One animal from G-I and one from G-II died on POD 7 and POD 10 due to anastomotic complications and sepsis, respectively. Reconstructive surgery to craniofacial deformities caused by tumor ressections, traumas or congenital malformation are frequent in medicine practice. It aims to provide the patients with better quality of life and functional improvement of speech, breathing, chewing, and swallowing. Many are the techniques described in the literature to recover bone defects. This study evaluated a vascularized galeal and periosteum flap in rabbits, which could possibly substitute the bone graft in reconstructive surgery, especially for facial defects. It involved rabbits, divided into 12 groups, submitted to a surgical procedure to construct the galea and periosteum cranial flap filled with fragments of cranial bone, platelet-rich plasma, mesenchimal stem cells, and hyaluronic acid. The evaluation methods included image examinations and histological analysis.The results demonstrated bone formation with the use of platelet-rich plasma, mesenchimal stem cells, and bone fragments. The use of several enrichment materials of osseous cellular stimulation improved the quality and bone tissue organization. The more enrichment factor used, the better the tissue quality result was.Much research should be done to improve the methods and to analyze if results in human have the same bone formation as it happened in rabbits.

Os fibroblastos fazem parte do tecido conjuntivo e consequentemente estão presentes em várias partes do corpo. Logo, a possibilidade de reprogramar essas células torna possível novas terapias. Assim, o objetivo deste trabalho foi de apresentar os estudos e as possibilidades terapêuticas com essa nova tecnologia. Para tanto, foi realizado um levantamento bibliográfico nas bases de dados PubMed Central, SciElo, Google Scholar, como Elsevier e Science, com trabalhos públicos nos últimos 5 anos. Nota-se que existe um grande potencial dos fibroblastos em realizar a transdiferenciação, como forma de reprogramação celular, já possuindo vários estudos em curso com esse objetivo, principalmente voltado para lesões cardíacas. Assim, a reprogramação celular em fibroblastos surge com uma possibilidade para novas terapias de patologia até então sem perspectiva de cura.
